Midjourney Minute: Scientific Test

With and Without

I've got a way for you to build more confidence in your Midjourney prompts, and it's super easy to do!

We simply need to use the --seed parameter and then try two different versions of a prompt. Because a 'seed' is like a starting blueprint, by writing a specific seed in our prompt we control the biggest variable. And then any change we see in the results, we know is caused by a certain word or phrase.

Let me show you a clear example, I chose a random seed number and I triggered it with '--seed'

This first prompt is: Courage the galactic knight --ar 1:1 --seed 2480 --v 6.1

Now let's add something to the prompt: Courage the galactic knight, don maitz --ar 1:1 --seed 2480 --v 6.1

Isn't the difference amazing?

This test becomes obvious when you add something like the name of an artist, in the case above, Don Maitz. Running similar prompts on the same seed number allows us to clearly see what effect an artist has on the results!

I have one pro tip for you before I go, you can use permutations to run this test easily. You want to put the test word inside of two curly brackets { } with a comma at the beginning {,word}

For the example I used in this email, I wrote the prompt like this: Courage the galactic knight, {,don maitz} --seed 2480

That comma at the start {,don maitz} tells the bot to run with AND without the next word or phrase.

Hope this was a quick refresher on how you can become more confident in the words you use in a prompt, and if you want to be the first to learn about these strategies, you should check out the Future Tech Academy https://www.skool.com/fta

Open-Ended Prompting Give me a minute here and I'll introduce you to a fun way of Prompting for Midjourney Version 7 - it's the idea of writing an open-ended concept - you can think of it as letting the bot make most of the decisions. 🧪 The “Let It Cook” Method Step 1: Pick a Subject Choose a noun or concept — it can be a character, object, place, or feeling > e.g. "koala", "city", "dessert" Step 2: Add a Suggestive Descriptor (Not Too Specific) Use an adjective or phrase that implies a tone,...
